Great news! The Registrar General’s Department (RGD) is on board for the Upcoming Jamaican International Inclusive Education Conference & Expo.
The Registrar General’s Department (RGD) is the sole repository of records in Jamaica and as such the Agency is mandated to register all vital events in Jamaica and its borders. Its mission is to support national planning and to provide evidence of every birth, stillbirth, death, adoption and marriage and provide a secure repository for public records.
In April 1999, the RGD became an Executive Agency and eight years later attained Type “C” status. RGD became the first and to date only government entity to hold this status. Today, the RGD currently has approximately 500,000 customers who are served by a workforce of over 350 employees.
Over the years, the Agency has decentralized its operations to accommodate the growing population. To date, RGD, operates nine (9) regional offices, in the parishes of Kingston, St. Catherine, Clarendon, St. Elizabeth, St. James, St. Ann, Manchester, Westmoreland, and Portland. The core operation is located at Twickenham Park, St. Catherine.
The Agency’s vision is to become one of the most efficient and effective agencies in the country, while in regard to its social portfolio the Agency contributes in the area of community development as it relates to providing information and assistance to schools, churches, civic groups, organizations and the vulnerable in our society.
